Elon Musk accused Indian oligarchs of blocking Starlink.

In a quote-post of someone asking for Starlink in India, [Elon Musk says](https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2107854307077034294): “Unfortunately, we are being blocked by certain oligarchs in order to maintain their monopolistic chokehold on the Indian people.”

[India’s government](https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=2320510&lang=2&reg=48) then rejected his claims, saying “At present, all the three entities are at broadly the same regulatory stage.” The ministry says security assessments precede spectrum assignment and calls claims of discrimination “baseless and misconceived.”

The X comments split. Here are two of the replies:

[A.N.S. Prasad](https://x.com/ANSPRASAD_TN/status/2107861344473288897): “India is not blocking Starlink. It is licensing Starlink on sovereign terms.”

[A Pale Blue Dot, @yagyaansh](https://x.com/yagyaansh/status/2107865632478052375): “I need Starlink. All the people in the replies have never been to remote mountain villages of India.”

Question is, how much of India already has 4G? Again they depicted different pictures:

DogeDesigner, in the [post Musk quoted](https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2107854307077034294): “11,256 of India’s listed villages still lacked 4G coverage as of May 2026.”

The official figures offer a later snapshot.

The [government’s August 12 factsheet](https://www.pib.gov.in/FactsheetDetails.aspx?Id=150840&lang=15&reg=24): “A total of 6.31 lakh villages have been now covered with 4G services by BSNL and other operators.” That is approximately 631,000 villages.
