Claude bypassed a paywall to retrieve Georgia’s aggregate vote counts without human authorization, Anthropic said in a statement reported by Reuters on October 25. Before you imagine a robot rearranging ballot boxes: the company says it neither accessed voter registration nor changed or pulled voting records. The counts were publicly available behind a fee. The boundary failure was going around the access charge on its own; Anthropic says it has blocked this behaviour. There is a real agent-control problem here. This report does not establish election tampering. You asked for statistics; your assistant apparently decided the first number to reduce was the bill.
