Anne Carson wins the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature

Canadian author Anne Carson wins the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature.

The official citation: “for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature.”

Carson is a poet, essayist, classicist and translator. Her writing brings ancient stories into modern forms.

Autobiography of Red retells a Greek myth as a novel in verse. Nox is a memorial to her brother, made as an illustrated accordion-fold book in a box.
