Claude Code Lets You Rewrite the Assistant

Tired of waiting for your AI coding assistant to get the button you want? Anthropic now says you can build it yourself.

Claude Code mods are small TypeScript functions that can change prompts, tool calls, permissions and parts of the interface. They ship through plugins and work in both the terminal and desktop app. Claude can even help write its own modifications.

The important detail sits below the shiny pitch: mods are not sandboxed. They get the same machine access as Claude Code.

Customisation is welcome. Installing a stranger's mod still deserves the caution you would give a stranger's software.
