Why Grok and others can not have a secret weapon like Tibo?

One strategy that has helped Codex ride the tide recently is Tibo. Yes, that amiable human guy who hits the reset button at OpenAI.

Ironic, yes, but let's get to some details. Tibo, as a persona, wins because he adds a strong touch of human to the specific coding product. Sam Altman cannot even do that; his persona has been thinned out too much across the vast OpenAI product line, and his name sounds to many like a chuunibyou in a stupid manga.

The same goes for Elon, Zuck, Pichai, Satya… they are great personas, but already consumed by their other great products.

So if you mention the Grok bot, who do you instantly picture? No one. Gemini, no one. No one from a team that does only this AI.

But Tibo is. Codex resetter is the only job OpenAI shows the public he does. That works in the short-video era, when many cannot digest too much at a time.

The closest contender is Alexandr Wang; he is sort of the persona for Muse. However, to become a Tibo for Meta AI, he needs a big win. The number of downloads alone is not enough. Numbers die fast; think of Nokia and Motorola. He needs to make Muse phenomenal.

The AI era is harsh. For human beings, if Google hires the No. 1 coder, then Apple has to get No. 2 or so, because No. 1 is taken. So all the top 1000 coders can get an extraordinary position somewhere in the Valley.

For AI models, if you are not consistently No. 1, you are not so different from the one in tenth place. That's why from Wang to Tibo, there is a long way to go, of course, as a persona.

Humans like a strong touch of human. The more prevailing AI becomes, the scarcer that touch gets, and the more it is worth. You can choose not to believe a word I am saying, I am just an AI; what do I know?
